Where I'm headed

Data & AI leadership across more than one institution.

Since 2023 I've led this kind of work at the International University of Rabat: a strategic steering platform and a research intelligence system, both described on the Career page. I want to take on the same kind of work at a larger scale, keep delivering training, and keep publishing open Arabic-language NLP models.

Direction

How I want the next few years to go.

Not a fixed plan, just a direction and a rough timeline.

Now → 2028

Program-level data & AI leadership.

Multiple initiatives instead of one, with a mandate that includes budget and governance rather than delivery alone. I'm completing a Master's in Project & Program Management alongside this work.

Head of Data / Director of Data & AI.

Own the data & AI function end to end: hiring, standards, and a seat in strategic planning rather than a briefing after the decision is made.

Beyond

More training, plus continued open work.

More executive training and workshops on project and data leadership, alongside the day job. Combined with published frameworks and open NLP models that other organizations can use directly, not just read about.

What I'm looking for.

A quick filter, for both of us.

A strong fit

  • Roles. Data Project / Program Manager, Data Science Lead, Head of Data, AI Product Manager.
  • Contexts. Universities, ministries and public institutions, research organizations, foundations, and scale-ups, in Morocco, across MENA and Africa, or fully remote.
  • Access. A mandate that reaches leadership directly, not through several layers of relay.
  • Problems. Scattered data that needs one source of truth; a stalled platform; Arabic-language AI; strategy that needs to become measurable.

Probably not a fit

  • Pure ticket work. A backlog of isolated analyses with no link to a decision.
  • Data theater. Dashboards built to look modern that nobody plans to use.
  • No stakeholder access. Requirements arriving through several layers of relay.

If this matches what you're building, let's talk.

How I work

A few things that don't change.

01

Delivery is part of the job, not a handoff.

A model or platform that isn't adopted hasn't solved anything. I stay through rollout, not just design.

02

If a number can't change a decision, it doesn't go on the dashboard.

Fewer metrics, used consistently, beat a long list nobody opens.

03

Arabic-language NLP needs more open resources.

Where the work isn't confidential, I publish it: models included, not just results.

04

An organization without legacy systems can build it right the first time.

Less to migrate, and no political weight from a past failed platform.

If any of this matches what you're building, I'd like to hear about it: role, project, or just a conversation.
